Little Gem, a Single-Family Home in West London’s Kensington

Located a few minutes from Kensington Gardens in London, Little Gem is a newly constructed home which is “minimal in design, [and] generous in scale”, says developer Mike Spink about the property.

The single-family home incorporates the thoughtful proportions and engineering precision that SPINK Partners is known for, to create something special. This standard of perfection is why Mike Spink’s properties are some of the most desirable and expensive in London.

Spink made headlines in 2011 with his development at Park Place near Henley-on-Thames. He purchased the 18th century Grade II-listed house (built for the son of George II) for £42m, renovated it with his exacting standards, and sold to the Russian billionaire Andrey Borodin for a reported £140m. It was the most expensive home ever sold in Britain at the time.

Little Gem is a celebration of the philosophy “less is more” with a focus on understated luxury and simplicity. Spink's in-house architect Franz Borho designed the property to give the freedom of an apartment but with the benefits of a freehold property.

The 2-bedroom property is just shy of 2100 square feet, and is spread across three levels with a striking sculptural staircase. Upstairs, the oversized master suite amenities steal the show, with a stunning Carrara marble bathroom and walk-in closet at a scale not typically seen in homes of this size. The oak-paneled master bedroom also includes a Japanese-style courtyard.

A glass wall looks out to the home’s rear suntrap private garden, created by one of the world’s most influential landscape designers, Christopher Bradley-Hole. The property also has underfloor heating throughout, and features off street parking.
