Normandy in Connecticut: A Bespoke French Country Manor Home Mixes Old and New

Normandy in Connecticut: A Bespoke French Country Manor Home Mixes Old and New

At first glance, we thought this French manor home must be located somewhere in the countryside of Normandy, however this property is actually in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The bespoke property is a collaboration between its owner, renowned interior designer Emma Jane Pilkington, architect Joel Barkley, and builder Joe Kais.

The original Cotswolds-style home was expanded and reconstructed nearly every aspect of the original Cotswolds-style home. To achieve the timeless aesthetic of centuries-old French manor homes, Pilkington sourced materials on her travels abroad.

“It’s a new home, but I wanted to achieve a sense of permanence and history to it,” said Pilkington, who incorporated reclaimed floors, antique wood beams, 19th century French chandeliers, and centuries-old fireplace mantels throughout the home.

The Belgian-influenced kitchen has a 17th century table that has been retrofitted into a unique island in the gourmet chef’s kitchen.

The master bedroom features antique wood cabinetry with beautiful iron hardware fixtures.

With old-world charm and modern amenities, the Khakum Wood residence is in a class of its own.
